Accessibility Resources
Accessibility Resources at Molloy University provide all members of our community with information about physical and digital access. Shared resources and resources for students, faculty, non-faculty employees and visitors are available on this page.
Physical Facilities
Molloy locations include paved ramps, curb cuts and automatically opening doors at entrances of buildings. There is elevator access to upper floors of most buildings, and classrooms and doorways are built to accommodate most accessibility needs. To request accommodations, additional information or report an issue contact the Office of Facilities Management.
Maps
- The Accessible Parking map identifies all buildings and areas on Molloy University's Rockville Centre campus and highlights the location of accessible parking spaces. Contact Public Safety at 516-323-3500 or PublicSafety@molloy.edu regarding permits.
- Molloy has designated some restrooms as All-Gender Restrooms. Visit the All-Gender Restrooms page for a list of these restrooms and their locations on campus.
Madison Theatre
The Madison Theatre provides an accessible theatre-going experience for all members of the Molloy community, outlined on their website. To meet the needs of all of Molloy, the Madison offers the following:
- Accessible parking near the Public Square building and the Theatre’s lobby entrance.
- Automatically opening doors at both entrances to the building.
- Assigned accessible seating offered, with elevators available.
- Assisted listening systems available.
- Disclaimers about shows that include fog, smoke or strobe effects.
- Special accommodations for Sensory Sensitive Shows. Please call the Madison Theatre team for assistance and questions.
- Website contents designed for optimal accessibility and usability and to comply with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), Version 2.1, Level AA.
Molloy community members with questions about the accessibility of the Madison Theatre are encouraged to contact the box office at (516) 323-4444.
Vendors
Vendors who work with Molloy University agree to provide services in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and with applicable University standards, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act as applicable. These vendors are expected to promptly respond to and resolve all accessibility complaints, and, upon request, provide University with its accessibility testing results and written documentation verifying accessibility.
Digital Accessibility
Molloy's institutional settings for Zoom meetings are defaulted to make live captions available. To enable, click on the Show Captions button (displaying the letters CC) at the bottom of the Zoom screen.
Molloy staff and administrators are supported in ensuring an accessible environment for themselves and all members of the Molloy community.
Website Accessibility Resources
Digital content on Molloy University's website should meet the requirements of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Version 2.1, Level AA and utilize best practices for web accessibility on their pages. Accommodations and Services
Center for Access and Disability
Center for Access and Disability (ACCESS) provides accommodations and services aimed to ensure access to an equal educational experience for qualified students with documented disabilities, while ensuring that the integrity of all college standards and requirements is maintained.

- Additional services available at no additional cost include ACCESS Orientation, Access Discussion Groups, Peer Contacts (Student Contacts) and the Access Sensory Lounge. Contact access@molloy.edu for information.
Digital Accessibility for Students
The LibGuide for Blended and Online Learning Student Resources provides digital accessibility resources for students in online or hybrid courses. Students in hybrid and online courses can also email Blended and Online Learning Student Support.
Student Life Resources
Student clubs are supported in providing an accessible experience for all Molloy students. The Leadership, Education, and Awareness of Disabilities (L.E.A.D.) Club is dedicated to increasing awareness and mindfulness of disabilities by holding on-campus events and presentations for students, staff, and faculty.
Center for Neurodiversity
The Center for Neurodiversity, through the Office of Continuing Education and Professional Studies, is an umbrella organization at Molloy University that houses the programs and resources to help neurodivergent students (including, but not limited to those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, and executive function challenges) to continue their studies at Molloy University. The center offers the following programs:
- Connect - Summer and full year programs for neurodivergent high school juniors and seniors who are college bound. Connect is a student-centered program with the goal of promoting academic and social competency, self-advocacy, interpersonal skills, independent living, and social integration: from pre-admission through the college experience.
- Molloy Opportunity for Successful Transition (MOST) Program - In collaboration with the Mary Quinn’s Mark Foundation, MOST is a two-year program to provide individuals with developmental disabilities, aged 21-27, opportunities to identify and develop the social and academic skills required to successfully transition into a meaningful and engaged adult life while participating in a fully inclusive college experience.
Experiential Learning
The Office of Experiential Learning offers programs including academic service learning, internships, community work study and mentoring opportunities. This office communicates directly with faculty who refer students for these programs, so students who wish to participate may discuss accommodation needs with their faculty, as well as the Center for Access and Disability, in order to request appropriate accommodation.

Digital Accessibility Resources for Faculty
The Office of Blended and Online Learning (BOL) provides support and resources for faculty to ensure the digital accessibility of their online course materials.
- The Course Design and Development pages explore resources for designing online, hybrid and web-enhanced courses, including ensuring accessible digital course content.
- BOL offers a self-paced Canvas course called Accessibility 101. Faculty may request access to the course by emailing CourseDesign@molloy.edu. Completion of the course is also the first criteria toward earning the Digital Accessibility for Educators (DAE) Badge.
- BOL offers workshops and online professional development courses related to course design topics, including accessibility. See upcoming offerings on the Blended and Online Faculty Development LibCal for online courses and the Faculty Development LibCal for workshops.
- BOL provides guidance and FAQ's about accessibility on their Inclusive Design LibGuide page, including information about the Ally Accessibility Report score, a criterion for the Minimum Checklist for Online and Hybrid Courses.

Coordination with Access
The Center for Access and Disability (Access) provides accommodations and services aimed to ensure access to an equal educational experience for qualified students with documented disabilities, while ensuring that the integrity of all college standards and requirements is maintained.
Faculty should sign in to the Accommodate web portal in order to see information about students in their courses and their accommodation letter and accommodation testing appointments.

- If faculty have questions about how to grant accommodations in Canvas for online exams or to improve digital accessibility of course materials, please contact the Office of Blended and Online Learning at CourseDesign@molloy.edu.
Faculty may also find that students in their course would benefit from a visit from student members of the LEAD Student Club to address issues of accessibility from a student perspective. Faculty may coordinate contact and visits through Access office.
Experiential Learning
The Office of Experiential Learning receives communication from the Center for Access and Disability, faculty are encouraged to include information about student accommodation needs when they initially contact the office regarding student participation in one of the programs.
Employee Accommodations
To request an accommodation, an employee should contact a representative from Human Resources (by email at HRInternal@molloy.edu or phone at (516) 323-3050. Following their meeting, the employee will be asked to complete the Accommodation Request Form, which provides the Office of Human Resources the information needed to respond to the request and can be found on their Accommodations Requests page.
