How long is it going to take me to finish the Ed.D. program?
The program is offered on a part-time basis. Participants will complete six credits each semester. The cohort-based course work may be completed in three years, followed by the dissertation sequence, which will take a minimum of three additional semesters or one and a half years.

What is the difference between the hybrid track and the online track?
Both program tracks in the Ed.D. program follow the same philosophy, curriculum, and program completion requirements.
The hybrid program track is offered in an executive, blended format. Each course meets for 15 hours of face-to-face class time per course on five Saturdays each semester, with an additional 25 hours of online learning and 5 hours of field work.
The online program track is offered in an asynchronous format. Each course includes 40 hours of classwork and 5 hours of field work.

What are the start dates of the different program tracks?
The online program track will begin in Fall 2024, and the hybrid program track will begin in Spring 2025.

Can I earn a School Building Leader or School District Leader certificate while I am in the Ed.D. Program?
Yes. The SBL/SDL certificate programs and the Ed.D.Program have courses that correlate so that you can work toward your licensing certificates and Ed.D. degree at the same time. More details can be found here.

I am not a teacher or administrator in the K-12 school system. Will I be considered for admission and will the program meet my needs?
Yes! While we anticipate that most participants will be educators in the K-12 context, the program is designed with a broad-based focus on leadership and diversity. See program goals and outcomes to determine if this Ed.D. is a viable option for you to reach your professional goals.

I have not been in graduate school for over 15 years. Do you think I can be successful in this program?
Yes! Length of time elapsed since last attendance in school is not be a selection criterion. While we anticipate admission to this program to be competitive and selective, we are confident that our comprehensive approach to candidate selection will result in inviting the best prospective participants to join the program.

How many credits can I transfer into this program?
At the discretion of the Ed.D. program director, effective Fall 2023, up to twelve graduate level credits may be transferred into the Ed.D. program. Our complete transfer credit policy can be found in the Molloy University Graduate Catalog.
