NURSING SKILLS WORKSHOPS

Thinking of changing an area of specialty but feel a little rusty in past learned nursing skills? The purpose of these workshops is to provide the registered nurse with hands-on-techniques combined with current nursing theory knowledge necessary in providing comprehensive patient care in the following areas:

Tuition: Enroll for the entire series of 6 Skills workshop for $650 or individual workshops for $125 each.

Wound care – this workshop will focus on listing the classifications of wounds and the complications of wound healing.

Enteral feedings and colostomy care – this workshop will discuss the anatomy and physiology of the GI track and describe different types of ostomies.

Respiratory care – this workshop will describe mechanical ventilation with nursing management and explain acid-base regulation and arterial blood gases.

Injections and IV care – this workshop will explain parenteral nutrition and discuss injection type syringes with proper placement/landmarks.

GU skills and catheterizations - this workshop will describe altered urine production and discuss various diagnostic tests used to evaluate kidney function.

Phlebotomy - this workshop will offer instruction, demonstration and hands-on learning in blood drawing and proper collection of blood samples.

The series is offered in person on weekends with 2 topics per day. One topic from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and the second topic form 1:30 pm – 5:30 pm at our Rockville Centre campus. Click here for the schedule of classes.

You will be able to pay for your classes online by ACH check or by MasterCard, Visa or Discover credit card. If you pay by credit card there will be a fee of 2.75% for domestic cards and 4.25% for international cards added to the tuition. You can avoid the credit card fee by paying with a check online.

Office hours: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays: 8:30 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Wednesdays & Fridays: 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. as well as on Saturdays: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. when classes are starting.

Summer Hours: Please note that during July and August, the office is closed on Fridays, most evenings (at 5 p.m.) and most Saturdays

Confirmation of your registration will be emailed to you upon receipt of your registration. Your Zoom link or classroom assignment will be emailed to you shortly before the start date of you class if it was not included in your confirmation.
