Scholarships and Grants
Many full and partial tuition scholarships are available to entering full-time students at Molloy University. Full-time is defined as a minimum of 12 credits per semester. Most scholarships are based entirely on academic records, without regard for need. Others are awarded based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and a student’s personal abilities and talents. Students with a high average and rank in class will automatically be reviewed for scholarship consideration. Students with a strong SAT or ACT scores should also consider submitting their scores, however these scores are optional.

First Year Students
A large number of scholarships are available to entering first year students at Molloy University. Merit scholarships are based entirely on academic record, without regard for need. Students will automatically be considered for scholarships which are based upon their academic profile.
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: These partial tuition scholarships, ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 a year, are based on academic achievement. Recipients must be a first semester full-time first year student and must maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative index for a maximum of 8 consecutive semesters for renewal. Recipients must also file the required financial aid applications annually for renewal of this scholarship.
ATHLETIC GRANT: Awards ranging from partial to full tuition grants are given to full-time students based upon athletic ability. Awards are determined by the Athletic Department. Recipients must maintain a minimum cumulative index of 2.0, file the required financial aid applications annually, and continue to participate in the sport for which the grant was awarded.
COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD: Partial tuition awards ranging from $500 to $5,000 per year are awarded to first semester full-time first year students who have demonstrated a commitment to their community and school. They are renewable annually for a maximum of 8 consecutive semesters. Criteria for renewal are a minimum GPA of 2.5 and continued commitment to community service through university activities.
DEANS SCHOLARSHIP: These partial tuition scholarships, ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 a year, are based upon academic achievement. Recipients must be a first semester full-time first year student and must maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative index for a maximum of 8 consecutive semesters for renewal. Recipients must also file the required financial aid applications annually for renewal of this scholarship.
EAGLE SCOUT AWARD SCHOLARSHIP: A scholarship of $1,000, per academic year, is awarded to a first-semester full-time first-year student who is an Eagle Scout Award recipient. Molloy University is proud to offer a limited number of these special incentive awards to talented young men to encourage educational success. Students must submit proof of Eagle Scout status to the Office of Admissions for consideration.
FINE ARTS SCHOLARSHIP: These scholarships are awarded to full-time first-year students who are adjudged to have exceptional talent or have achieved proficiency in art or music. Qualifications are demonstrated through audition, the submission of a portfolio, or other documented experience. Recipients must major in the areas for which the scholarships are awarded and maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative average for a maximum of 8 consecutive semesters for renewal. Recipients must also file the required financial aid applications annually for renewal of this scholarship.
FUNDED SCHOLARSHIPS: A number of donor-funded scholarships are available for first-semester full-time first-year students. These scholarships are based on donor-defined criteria, and award amounts vary. Some of the scholarships are a one-time award and others are renewable annually. Potential candidates are identified by the Office of Admissions.
GIRL SCOUT GOLD AWARD SCHOLARSHIP: A scholarship of $1,000 per academic year is awarded to a first semester full-time first year student who is a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient. Molloy University is proud to offer a limited number of these special incentive awards to talented young women to encourage educational success. Students must submit proof of Girl Scout Gold status to the Office of Admissions for consideration.
HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLAR'S GRANT: Grants of $1,000 are awarded to students who have completed a Molloy University course in high school and who enroll as a first semester full-time first year student at Molloy. The grant is renewable for up to four years of full-time undergraduate study. Grant recipients are required to maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and file the FAFSA for each year of enrollment at Molloy.
MOLLOY SCHOLAR: A limited number of full tuition scholarships are available for first semester full-time first year students. Awards are based on academic achievement and standardized test scores. These awards are competitive, and students must apply for admission by December 1st. Minimum eligibility requirements for consideration are a 95% unweighted high school academic average and either a minimum score of 1380 combined from evidence-based reading and writing (EBRW) and math on the SAT, or a 31 on the ACT. Since these awards are highly competitive, consideration for eligibility does not guarantee this award. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative index of 3.5 for a maximum of 8 consecutive semesters taking a maximum of 16 credits each semester for renewal. Recipients must also file the required financial aid applications annually for renewal of this scholarship.
PRESIDENTIAL DOMINICAN ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP: These partial tuition scholarships, range from $10,000 to $30,000 a year, and are based on academic achievement. Priority is given to students who apply for admission by March 1st. Recipients must be first semester full-time first year students, and must maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative index for a maximum of 8 consecutive semesters for renewal. Recipients must also file the required financial aid applications annually for renewal of this scholarship.
TUITION REDUCTION FOR RELATIVES: A tuition reduction of $1,000 per academic year is granted to the lower classman attending full time when more than one member of an immediate family, living in the same household, is enrolled as a full-time student at the university.
Tuition Reduction for Sibling-Attending Parochial School: A reduction in tuition of $1,000 per academic year is granted to a Molloy student attending full-time when one or more members of the immediate family, living in the same household, is enrolled in a parochial school.
