  • Application Requirements

    For a full overview of what may increase your eligibility for approval, please contact the Office of Admissions. Before making any decisions, this list can help you get started: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a professionally accredited program. Applicants from non-accredited programs may be considered for admission on an individual basis
    • *Undergraduate GPA 3.0+ on a 4.0 scale
    • Current New York State license registration certificate
    • One year of clinical nursing experience is required before specialization courses. Nurse Practitioner applicants are required to have a minimum of one year of recent clinical experience
    • Three letters of recommendation that attest to clinical competency, including one letter from a clinical manager
    • Undergraduate statistics
    • Undergraduate nursing research
    • Undergraduate Basic Physical Assessment
    • Experience in a mental health setting preferred

    • NUR 5051 Theoretical Applications in Transformative Leadership – 3 credits
    • NUR 5052 Reflective Practice and Advocacy – 3 credits
    • NUR 5053 Research and Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing – 3 credits

    • NUR 5240 Advanced Pathophysiology – 3 credits
    • NUR 5730 Pharmacotherapeutics – 3 credits
    • NUR 5722 FNP/PMHNP Advanced Physical Assessment (45 clinical/lab hours) – 3 credits
    • NUR 5831 Role of Nurse Practitioner – 3 credits 

     

     PMHNP Program Courses - 15 Credits

    • NUR 5510 PMHNP: Practicum in Primary Care I (165 clinical hours) – 2 credits
    • NUR 5520 PMHNP: Practicum in Primary Care II (165 clinical hours) – 2 credits
    • NUR 5530 PMHNP: Practicum in Primary Care III (165 clinical hours) – 2 credits   
    • NUR 5920 PMHNP: Theoretical Foundations (60 clinical hours) – 3 credits
    • NUR 5931 PMHNP: Diagnostics and Therapeutics I – 2 credits
