We encourage you to audition as early in the season as possible to maximize your chances for a Performing Arts Scholarship. Performing Arts Scholarships are awarded for artistic merit on a “first-come-first-served” basis.

Preparing Your Audition: The Performance

Perform two pieces of contrasting styles. Instrumentalists should also be prepared to perform major and/or minor scales. You will also be asked to sight read.

You are not required to perform with an accompanist. If you prefer to audition with accompaniment, you have three options:

  1. Perform with a Music Department Accompanist. We will provide an accompanist for you (please contact us and send copies of your sheet music at least two weeks before your audition to arrange for this option).
  2. Perform with a backing track. Bring your own backing track and playback device (please contact us at least one week in advance if you need us to provide a speaker for your audition).
  3. Perform with your own accompanist. You are welcome to bring your own accompanist.

Preparing Your Audition: The Interview

After your audition, our program faculty will engage you in a brief conversation. The purpose of this interview is to get to know you better.

We want to understand your reasons for pursuing your chosen major, your aspirations, and why you are auditioning at Molloy.

We are looking for enthusiastic, passionate individuals with a drive to learn and reach their full potential as artists, musicians, clinicians, and/or educators.

Audition Formats

  • Live Auditions on Campus

After performing on their main instrument or voice, students will also be assessed in areas of general musicianship such as sight reading and pitch matching.
