An Exploration of Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy


The practice of Nordoff-Robbins music therapy is a unique, music-centered and creative endeavor, necessitating a high level of musical sensitivity and clinical awareness in meeting the needs of a variety of clients. The course, "An Exploration of Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy" is an introduction to Nordoff-Robbins music therapy. Nordoff-Robbins music therapy will be explored through in-depth study of archival and contemporary studies via audiotape, videotape, DVD and the literature. Particular emphasis on the use of music as the primary agent for change in promoting well-being and growth in delineated goal areas. Clinical musicianship and the Nordoff-Robbins training model will be reviewed.

The course is a 3 credit graduate course that can either be taken by itself or can be used towards the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Training program at Molloy University. Click here for information on the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Training program.

Course Format and Schedule of Classes


The course is offered every fall semester. The course is offered in a blended format: part in-person and part online via Zoom.

Application and Registration
 
You should register for the course at least one week before the start date. The registration process is simple because participants are not applying for a Molloy degree. There is an online application that students must complete. There is no application fee and entrance exams are not required. It is recommended that students register in advance of the course start date to guarantee their seat. Click here for Application and Registration Instructions.

Tuition and Fees

This 3-credit graduate course is offered at the discounted rate of $945. There are no application or course fees. This is a discounted tuition rate. Tuition is normally approximately $4,000 per 3-credit course. There are no other additional discounts given.

You will not be able to pay at the time of registration. Instead you will be billed and bills are generally sent out once a month in the middle of the month. However, you may login to your account 1 full business day after you register to pay for your course(s). Visit Lion's Den (Molloy's registration system) here and use your Username and Password to login. Click on the 'My Finance' tab and then click on 'My Account Info' to view your statement and pay your bill online. Payment can be made using: MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or ACH check.
