AI and Innovative Technology in Education Specialist Certificate
The AI and Innovative Technology in Education Certificate is designed for educators, administrators, and school staff seeking to lead the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies in educational settings. This program prepares participants to take on forward-thinking roles in guiding their schools and communities through the dynamic, technology-driven changes shaping education today.
The courses in this program explore foundational concepts of AI, emerging technologies like extended reality (XR) and gamification, and leadership strategies to promote collaboration, equity, and innovation. Ethical considerations, such as data privacy, accessibility, and responsible technology use, are integrated throughout the curriculum to ensure participants are equipped to lead with integrity.
This certificate is open to anyone in an educational setting—including teachers, instructional coaches, curriculum developers, and administrators—who wants to embrace and drive transformative changes in education through innovative technology.
By completing this program, participants will gain the knowledge and confidence to be proactive leaders, empowering their schools to use technology to foster innovation, inclusion, and collaboration.
This is a 9 credit certificate with the following three courses:
Course 1: Foundations of Artificial Intelligence in Educational
Description:
This foundational course introduces participants to the core concepts and capabilities of AI in education. Through hands-on exploration and critical discussions, educators will gain an understanding of how AI can enhance learning environments and streamline instructional practices. Participants will also examine the ethical dimensions of AI adoption, focusing on equity, privacy, and the responsible use of technology.

Course 2: Exploring Emerging Technologies for Inclusive Education
Description:
This course delves into emerging technologies beyond AI, such as extended reality (XR), gamification tools, and adaptive learning systems. Educators will learn how to apply these technologies to create engaging and inclusive learning environments that support diverse learners. Participants will also explore how to evaluate the effectiveness and accessibility of these tools for different classroom contexts.

Course 3: Ethical Leadership and Collabortation in Technology-Enhanced Classrooms
Description:
This course focuses on using AI and collaborative technologies to foster teamwork, critical thinking, and ethical decision-making in the classroom. Participants will explore tools such as collaborative platforms, cloud-based systems, and social learning networks to promote interaction and cooperation. The course emphasizes building an ethical framework for integrating technology, ensuring educators are equipped to lead with integrity and inclusivity.

Plan of Study
Courses are offered during the summer and can be taken in any order. There are no prerequisites, but a Master’s degree is required to enroll.
Course Modality
Courses are asynchronous online.
Online asynchronous course content is delivered online with no required virtual or instructional site meetings. The course has a start date and end date, but no set time you must log on to the course. You must log on to Canvas on the first day of class and continue to do so on a regular basis to complete assignments and participate in discussions in the time allotted by the professor.
Upon registration, students receive a Molloy email account and access to Canvas for assignments and course materials.
Once you have registered for your first course, you will be emailed a Molloy email account. Once you receive your Molloy email account, please follow the instructions in the email to set-up your permanent account. (If you do not receive the email within 3 business days of registering for your first course please check your spam folder or contact Krista Lombardo at klombardo@molloy.edu. You can log in at: www.molloy.edu/canvas using your permanent Username and Password. Once you log in to your Canvas account you can look up the any assignments that the instructor may have posted. It is strongly suggested that you become more familiar with using Canvas by reading the Canvas quickstart page at: https://resources.instructure.com/courses/32/pages/canvas-student-quickstart.
Registration Procedure
There are no traditional deadlines, and you can apply at any time. The registration process is simple, with no application fee or GRE requirement. All registrations are conducted online.
New students will complete an online application/registration form and receive login credentials within 1-2 business days. Early registration is encouraged, as courses fill quickly.
