Resume FAQs
-
1. How long should my resume be?
For most recent graduates, the resume should be one page. There are exceptions to this rule, especially for those who have extensive experience or are changing careers. If your resume runs a little bit over, do not worry; the Career Center will be able to assist you in ensuring all of your experience is appropriately highlighted.
-
2. How should I format my resume?
For your resume to be successful through the Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), the Career Center recommends that your resume is created on a plain Word document and not to use any template. We recommend using an easy-to-read font such as Times New Roman and keeping font size between 10.5-12.
You can use bold, underline, italics, and UPPER CASE throughout your resume to highlight key achievements and add eye appeal. However, be mindful of how you use these formats and use them consistently throughout your resume. Please do not hesitate to speak directly with a Career Center team member about your resume format and their suggestions.
