Third Time’s The Charm for CAP21 Student and SNL
A dream came true for Alexis Richelle earlier this year when she appeared as an extra on Saturday Night Live (SNL) in a sketch that featured host Pedro Pascal as an attractive school teacher who all the students loved. Richelle is in the second row on the left, wearing glasses.
Richelle, who graduated from Molloy in 2021, had been introduced to a casting agent by Kathleen Marino, who serves as General Manager for Molloy’s Madison Theatre. After two missed opportunities to be an extra on SNL (one because she was too tall, the other because of a work conflict), Richelle finally appeared on the famous comedy show that birthed such legends as John Belushi, Eddie Murphy and Gilda Radner.
“It was so great to walk down the halls and see photos of all the SNL greats,” said Richelle. “I watched Coldplay (the musical guest) rehearse, I said hello to Pedro, and everyone got dinner in the NBC cafeteria on Saturday night before the show. It was definitely one of the most loving experiences I’ve had in a long time.”
Richelle is currently rehearsing in Little Rock for The Arkansas Repertory Theatre production of “Little Shop of Horrors,” where she is playing the part of Chiffon and also understudying the female lead of Audrey.
When asked about her training at Molloy as part of the CAP21 Musical Theatre program, Richelle has nothing but good things to say. “They focus on your strengths and help you overcome your weaknesses,” she said.
“I still work with the CAP21 Acting instructor, Peter Marciano, who helps me every time I have an audition."
“I left CAP21 filled with confidence and ready for whatever comes next. CAP21 definitely prepared me for my career as an actor!”
