Molloy Earns Prestigious Endorsement for Clinical Simulation
One of Only 25 Schools Worldwide to Earn Recognition
Rockville Centre, NY -- Molloy University’s School of Nursing and Health Sciences has received the prestigious Healthcare Simulation Standards Endorsement Designation from the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL). The endorsement is designed to recognize healthcare institutions and practices that have demonstrated excellence in applying simulation standards.
“We are the first nursing school on Long Island to receive this recognition, and one of only twenty-five institutions worldwide,” said Director of Simulation Education and Assistant Professor Lori Persico, PhD, CHSE, RN. “This designation is a direct result of the collaboration between our highly-trained Clinical Learning Center (CLC) facilitation team, faculty and our simulation technology specialists, who serve more than 1,000 nursing students each semester. Our CLC simulation programs exemplify excellence in applying Healthcare Simulation Standards for Best PracticesTM in the core four categories: Professional Integrity, Facilitation, Prebriefing: Preparation and Briefing, and Debriefing.”
“Earning endorsement from INACSL reflects the strength of our program, and demonstrates only one of the ways that Molloy University nursing students have leading-edge learning experiences preparing them for excellence in clinical practice,” said Marcia Gardner, PhD, RN, CPNP, CPN, ANEF, Dean of the Barbara H. Hagan School of Nursing and Health Sciences. “Our simulation labs, in addition to traditional clinical experiences, facilitate students’ development of the clinical skills, clinical judgment and clinical decision-making which are critical for safe, effective, high-quality patient care. When the pandemic limited access to clinical experiences in hospitals and other settings, experiences in our high fidelity simulation center promoted students’ achievement of these crucial competencies, allowing them to graduate, very well prepared, into the nursing workforce.”
