Hossain Supports Molloy’s Legacy of Learning
Each year Molloy celebrates scholarship donors and scholarship recipients at the Legacy for Learning Scholarship Dinner. At the recent 2025 event, Zaki Hossain, Molloy University Board Member and VP/General Manager of Modern Packaging, pledged $5,000 monthly over the next ten years toward student scholarships. This support is in addition to the $550,000 endowed scholarship he and his wife, Rahat, established in 2022 to benefit a full-time undergraduate student.
“We have built a new and exciting vision for Molloy with our Strategic Plan 2028 that calls for us to create a vibrant “Culture of Philanthropy,” said President James Lentini. “The Legacy for Learning celebration connecting donors with the students who benefit from their gifts is a powerful example of our continuing forward progress. We are grateful to all of our generous donors, and to our own Board of Trustees member, Zaki Hossain, for being champions of philanthropy for Molloy University, allowing our students to realize their dreams.”
Mr. Hossain’s latest $600,000 commitment highlights the emerging trend of regular/monthly giving in higher-ed philanthropy. The scheduled approach is something that many people, regardless of wealth, can do even if it is $5/month.
“Education is the foundation of the country, and it is the foundation of society,” said Mr. Hossain. “I believe in Molloy University’s Mission and the power of its students to make a difference. That is why I will continue to invest in the future of both.”
Molloy currently boasts 115 endowed scholarships of $50,000 or more and 200 overall private scholarships. Additionally, since July 2024 the University has received 359 gifts from 288 donors totaling $400k.
“The entire Molloy community is very grateful to Zaki Hossain for his unwavering support of our students,” said Edward J. Thompson, VP for Advancement. “We are proud that Molloy has raised over $3.2M toward scholarships over the last five years, and Zaki has been a large part of that. Coupled with his recent philanthropy for workforce development, Zaki is now near the top of the list of the most generous donors in the history of the University.”
During the event, Mr. Hossain took to the podium to urge the students attending to “remain connected and help Molloy forever.”
