Commission Reaffirms Accreditation for Molloy
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) has once again reaffirmed Molloy University’s accreditation. As an accrediting body, MSCHE has been recognized by the United States Secretary of Education since 1952. Molloy has been accredited since 1967.
Accreditation by the Middle States Commission assures students, stakeholders, and the public of the educational quality of over 500 institutions of higher education. The accreditation process ensures institutional accountability through self-appraisal, improvement, and innovation.
Prior to a review by the MSCHE a rigorous campus-wide preparation process must occur. The process requires a “self-study” that involves every aspect of the operations of the subject institution. The evaluation culminates with a peer review by a visiting team of higher education experts and involves the rigorous application of standards within the context of the institutional mission.
During Molloy’s review process, the visiting evaluators recognized Molloy for its accomplishments on diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as its dedication to communication and collaboration particularly relating to the elimination of student barriers. A strong commitment to mission and shared governance was also highlighted.
Additionally, the University received accolades for the extensive workshop opportunities offered to faculty designed to ensure accessibility and quality in online courses and was commended for creating its first strategic enrollment plan.
“Earning the Middle States accreditation is a tribute to the entire Molloy community,” said Molloy University President Dr. James P. Lentini, D.M.A. “The detailed preparation and remarkable teamwork ensured a seamless reaccreditation. We have clearly demonstrated why the Molloy experience is special and that student success is truly the institution’s focus.”
The next self-study process will begin in 2030.
