Gerontology Minor
Gerontology is the comprehensive study of aging.
Students majoring in nursing, social work, psychology, speech and language, sociology, biology and other fields have found a minor in gerontology gives them an advantage in the workplace, and as growing numbers of older adults are in need of services, career opportunities are plentiful.
Requirements
An 15-credit minor in gerontology offers students the opportunity to gain specialized, multidisciplinary knowledge in the process of aging as well as experience working with older adults.
The minor in Gerontology requires the Introduction to Gerontology course, Psychology of Aging and Aging and Mental Illness, equivalent to 9 credits and 6 credits in gerontology electives. Speech Language Pathology Minor
Courses for a minor in speech-language pathology/ audiology must be selected in consultation with a speech-pathology/audiology advisor.
