Human Trafficking Awareness Event

Human trafficking (HT) is modern-day slavery. This pervasive issue affects millions of vulnerable individuals worldwide. Here in Long Island, New York, the number of people falling victim to HT is staggering. Over 90% of those trafficked are regular users of healthcare, yet healthcare professionals fail to identify them because they do not know the signs. Nurses, other healthcare professionals, and community leaders play a crucial role in identifying and supporting victims of HT.

This event advances social justice and Molloy University's strategic plan to unite the community by increasing education and communication about this vulnerable population, which will improve the representation of their unheard voices. It follows the Dominican tradition by creating the capacity among our students to respond to the needs of our community in a collective manner to make our world better.
